Young Leaders Achievement Academy (YLAA)

YLAA is a leadership institute that will engage high school students in a four year-long process beginning their freshmen year. The young leaders will have several opportunities to identify their natural talents and gifts, develop character, strengthen their leadership skills, and become involved in community service activities.

9th Grade

Freshman year participants are paired with and will have weekly interaction with a college mentor. The young leaders will have several opportunities to identify their natural talents and gifts, develop character, strengthen their leadership skills, and become involved in community service activities.  

 

10th Grade

During their sophomore year, students are encouraged to join supportive after-school programs and activities while continuing to receive academic enrichment services.

 

11th Grade

Known as the "Year of Service," junior will be filled with community service activities planned and implemented by program participants. Students will be given the amazing opportunity to attend an overnight regional college tour and civic engagement tour in Washington, D.C.

 

12th Grade

Our entire program is geared toward helping young people focus on their life after high school. During their senior year we will assist students in pursuing their post secondary goals, and students who successfully complete the program will have an opportunity to mentor a middle school student.
